College Rodeo: Then and Now

Las Vegas, NV - Come kick back with us at the NIRA Alumni Hospitality Room in Las Vegas during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo!

The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Alumni want to celebrate the traditions, the history, and the future of college rodeo by inviting rodeo fans, parents, faculty, coaches, all those who participated in college rodeo at any level to come to the Monterey Bay Room at the South Point Hotel and Casino on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 1 pm to 5 pm. Just drop in. No reservations needed! No agenda other than visiting and having a good time. No one twisting your arm to join our group although we would welcome you and the dues are less than the cost of a tank of gas (but isn’t everything nowadays!). There will be refreshments and a no host bar. Meet your friends! We would love to have people from every decade of college rodeo.

We would especially like to invite the current contestants, student and faculty directors and coaches meeting in Las Vegas to come across the hall and get acquainted with the Alumni. We are a group who want to support college rodeo and you can give us some ideas of how best to do that.

The theme of this gathering is “College Rodeo Then and Now” because we believe that some important changes have taken place in College Rodeo but some vital aspects of the college rodeo experience have not changed an iota! Sure, every college kid has an electronic gadget but the livestock is just as rough, the competition is just as challenging and the need to balance the classroom and the arena is still as important as it ever was.

Why come to this gathering? Come for the people and the purpose. The people who make up the Alumni are folks who care about rodeo and know that college rodeo made a difference in their lives. The purpose is to promote college rodeo, preserve its history and make sure that college rodeo will be there in the future for your kids and grandkids.

So mark your calendar!

Thursday, December 12, 2013, 1 to 5 p.m.

The Mission Bay Room at the South Point Hotel and Casino.
